One secured personal flotation device is mandatory per paddler.
Safety equipment is required for all canoes/kayaks. PFDs must be properly fitting and worn at all times.
Solo racers may paddle a canoe or kayak.
Ranked teams must paddle in canoes with canoe paddles.
Only two paddlers per canoe with the exception of family endurance teams of four if desired.

If you have a team of three or thirty, or somewhere in-between, you're always welcome to enter as an "unranked" team and join in the fun.
